Nigeria (X tons) was the main destination for cranks and crankshafts exports from Greece, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Imports into Greece
In 2022, purchases abroad of cranks and crankshafts was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cranks and crankshafts imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +13.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 42%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cranks and crankshafts to Greece, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, cranks and crankshafts imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +16.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+0.4% per year) and Belgium (+40.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest cranks and crankshafts suppliers to Greece, with a combined 60% share of total imports. The United States, Belgium, Turkey and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
