In 2022, the Greek crude rapeseed oil market increased by 24% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt setback. Crude rapeseed oil consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, crude rapeseed oil exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 4,228%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Romania (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Cyprus (X tons) were the main destinations of crude rapeseed oil exports from Greece, together accounting for 99% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +202.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third consecutive year, Greece recorded growth in purchases abroad of crude rape, colza or mustard oil, which increased by 87% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 181% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crude rapeseed oil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Bulgaria (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude rapeseed oil imports to Greece, with a combined 78% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +265.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest crude rapeseed oil suppliers to Greece were Bulgaria ($X), Serbia ($X) and Hungary ($X), together comprising 81% of total imports.
