After six years of growth, the Greek date market decreased by -20.7% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a buoyant increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Date imports into Greece contracted to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -11.7% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, date imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 55%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Tunisia (X tons), Israel (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of date imports to Greece, together accounting for 89% of total imports. Germany, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Spain and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.1%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +108.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
