The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 421% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports expanded to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for electric oven and cooker exports from Greece, accounting for a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, electric oven and cooker exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cyprus (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Bulgaria (X units), with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +8.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cyprus (+20.6% per year) and Bulgaria (+0.9% per year).

In value terms, Cyprus ($X) remains the key foreign market for electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters exports from Greece, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cyprus totaled +13.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-3.6% per year) and Bulgaria (+0.9% per year).

In 2022, the average electric oven and cooker export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Greece

Electric oven and cooker imports into Greece dropped to X units in 2022, declining by -1.6% against 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +40.0% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 48%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 37%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of electric oven and cooker to Greece, accounting for a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, electric oven and cooker imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X units), fivefold. Germany (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +5.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+4.6% per year) and Germany (+2.3% per year).

In value terms, the largest electric oven and cooker suppliers to Greece were Turkey ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 66% share of total imports. China, Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +16.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average electric oven and cooker import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -1.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
