Frozen Turkey Cut Market Size in Greece
The Greek frozen turkey cut market contracted modestly to $X in 2022, shrinking by -3.6% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, saw a buoyant expansion. Frozen turkey cut consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Exports from Greece
In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen cuts of turkey decreased by -19.7% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 168% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen turkey cut exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 99%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Bulgaria (X tons), Cyprus (X tons) and North Macedonia (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen turkey cut exports from Greece, with a combined 100% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cyprus (with a CAGR of +58.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Cyprus ($X) remains the key foreign market for frozen cuts of turkey exports from Greece, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bulgaria ($X), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by North Macedonia, with a 2.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Cyprus stood at +62.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (-2.8% per year) and North Macedonia (+16.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average frozen turkey cut export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 45% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 107% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Albania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+26.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Greece
In 2022, after seven years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of frozen cuts of turkey, when their volume decreased by -23.3% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 36%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, frozen turkey cut imports expanded to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen turkey cut imports to Greece, together comprising 55% of total imports. Hungary, Italy, Spain, Germany, Cyprus and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Cyprus (with a CAGR of +61.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Hungary ($X) and France ($X) were the largest frozen turkey cut suppliers to Greece, together accounting for 56% of total imports. Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Cyprus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Cyprus, with a CAGR of +56.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen turkey cut import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 34% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
