After three years of growth, the Greek industrial robot market decreased by -6.4% to $X in 2021. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In value terms, industrial robot exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a mild shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Cyprus (X units), Egypt (X units) and Israel (X units) were the main destinations of industrial robot exports from Greece, with a combined 75% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +35.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Egypt ($X), Cyprus ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for industrial robot exported from Greece worldwide, with a combined 62% share of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Egypt, with a CAGR of +64.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average industrial robot export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 89% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded prominent growth. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Greece

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of industrial robots for multiple uses decreased by -30.5% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 256%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, industrial robot imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 305%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest industrial robot supplier to Greece, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial robot imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X units), with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +27.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+43.6% per year) and Italy (+20.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest industrial robot suppliers to Greece were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 52% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +43.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average industrial robot import price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 52%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the price for Israel ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
