The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 26%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports contracted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Russia (X units), Germany (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main destinations of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports from Greece, together comprising 32% of total exports. Belgium, Sweden, Hungary, Norway, Romania, France, Australia, Ireland, Cyprus and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of +24.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($X per unit) and Australia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per unit) and Israel ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (-2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Greece

Lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports into Greece declined dramatically to X units in 2022, falling by -29.2% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 69%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 88% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports to Greece, with a combined 63% share of total imports. Romania, Austria, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, the UK and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +48.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest lift, elevator, stairway and dragline suppliers to Greece, with a combined 74% share of total imports.
