In 2022, imports of maize into Greece fell to X tons, dropping by -10.7% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 68%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, maize imports reached $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed resilient growth. In 2022, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest maize supplier to Greece, accounting for a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, maize imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Bulgaria stood at +16.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+20.5% per year) and Russia (-0.5% per year).

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Bulgaria ($X per ton) and Serbia ($X per ton), while the price for Moldova ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
