Over the period under review, total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.0% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Cyprus (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Albania (X tons) were the main destinations of paint and varnish exports from Greece, with a combined 38% share of total exports. Serbia, Turkey, Israel, Romania, India, Marshall Islands, Malta, Panama, Georgia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Panama (with a CAGR of +107.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Italy (X tons), France (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of paint and varnish imports to Greece, with a combined 55% share of total imports. The UK, Germany, Spain, Poland and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
