In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Greek photographic film market, when its value increased by 13% to $X. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 17%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, photographic film exports dropped notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Cyprus (X square meters) was the main destination for photographic film exports from Greece, accounting for a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, photographic film exports to Cyprus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bulgaria (X square meters), threefold. Germany (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Cyprus amounted to +5.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (+13.1% per year) and Germany (-19.5% per year).
In value terms, Cyprus ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for photographic film exported from Greece worldwide, together comprising 94% of total exports.
Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +20.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average photographic film export price amounted to $X per square meter, which is down by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 31% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Greece
In 2021, photographic film imports into Greece rose rapidly to X square meters, growing by 8% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, photographic film imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Belgium (X square meters), Germany (X square meters) and the Netherlands (X square meters) were the main suppliers of photographic film imports to Greece, together comprising 72% of total imports. China, Italy, Spain and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +14.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest photographic film suppliers to Greece were Belgium ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 79% of total imports. China, Bulgaria, Italy and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per square meter), while the price for China ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
