As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +79.7% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of non-cellular polyethylene film exports from Greece, with a combined 30% share of total exports. Mexico, Spain, Italy, Romania, the United States, the UK, Cyprus, China, Poland and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 28%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-cellular polyethylene film imports to Greece, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Israel, France, China and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 34%.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
