The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Romania (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main destinations of plum and sloe exports from Greece, together accounting for 33% of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Germany, Cyprus, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Albania, Turkey, Ukraine, Denmark and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +73.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Egypt ($X), Romania ($X) and Jordan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for plum and sloe exported from Greece worldwide, together accounting for 46% of total exports. These countries were followed by Cyprus, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Albania and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 46%.
Among the main countries of destination, Italy, with a CAGR of +70.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plum and sloe export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -48.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 35% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Greece
Plum and sloe imports into Greece dropped rapidly to X tons in 2022, reducing by -19% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, plum and sloe imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of plum and sloe imports to Greece, with a combined 74% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Chile, Germany and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +26.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest plum and sloe suppliers to Greece were the Netherlands ($X), France ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 73% of total imports. Italy, Germany, Chile and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
Germany, with a CAGR of +33.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average plum and sloe import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 42%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
