Bulgaria (X tons), Cyprus (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of pork exports from Greece, with a combined 64% share of total exports. Albania, the UK, Romania, Bahamas, Malta, Italy, Turkey, Sweden and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +94.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, pork export price increased by +66.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahamas ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahamas (+22.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of pork increased by 3.7% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of pork imports to Greece, together comprising 77% of total imports. Spain, Denmark, Belgium and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the largest pork suppliers to Greece, together comprising 79% of total imports. France, Denmark, Belgium and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
