Saccharin Market Size in Greece

The Greek saccharin market dropped sharply to $X in 2021, declining by -31.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, posted prominent growth. Cyprus (X tons) was the main destination for saccharin exports from Greece, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, saccharin exports to Cyprus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X kg), more than tenfold. Imports into Greece

Saccharin imports into Greece shrank notably to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -19.9% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 218% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, saccharin imports declined dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 140% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the main suppliers of saccharin imports to Greece, together accounting for 64% of total imports.
