Exports from Greece
Truck exports from Greece fell dramatically to X units in 2022, reducing by -50% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports showed a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 90%. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, truck exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 70%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Bulgaria (X units), Germany (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the main destinations of truck exports from Greece, with a combined 44% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Albania, Israel, Turkey, Nigeria, Romania, Cyprus, Georgia, Benin, Mali and Afghanistan, which together accounted for a further 44%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +128.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for truck exported from Greece were Israel ($X), Germany ($X) and Bulgaria ($X), with a combined 60% share of total exports.
Israel, with a CAGR of +1,148.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average truck export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 68%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+445.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X units of trucks were imported into Greece; growing by 2.8% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, truck imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and Turkey (X units) were the main suppliers of truck imports to Greece, with a combined 55% share of total imports. South Africa, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, the UK, Bulgaria, Thailand, Japan and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +32.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the largest truck suppliers to Greece, together comprising 53% of total imports. South Africa, France, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, Belgium, Austria and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
Among the main suppliers, the UK, with a CAGR of +26.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average truck import price amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -5.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
