The Greek passenger car tyre market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas shipments of tyres for motor cars increased by 12% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 123%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, passenger car tyre exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Cyprus (X units), Albania (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) were the main destinations of passenger car tyre exports from Greece, with a combined 63% share of total exports. Germany, Senegal, Poland and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +37.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of tyres for motor cars imported into Greece skyrocketed to X units, rising by 23% on 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, passenger car tyre imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium (X units), China (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to Greece, together comprising 37% of total imports.
