Romania (X tons), Cyprus (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of x-ray generator exports from Greece, with a combined 90% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, France, Hungary and the UK, which together accounted for a further 6.9%.

After five years of growth, supplies from abroad of x-ray generators decreased by -3.8% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, x-ray generator imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest x-ray generator supplier to Greece, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, x-ray generator imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), threefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +14.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+36.5% per year) and Italy (+18.8% per year).
