In value terms, man-made filament yarn exports declined markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 300% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Croatia (X tons) was the main destination for man-made filament yarn exports from Greece, with a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, man-made filament yarn exports to Croatia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), threefold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Croatia stood at +74.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-22.0% per year) and Poland (0.0% per year).

In value terms, Croatia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for man-made filament yarn exports from Greece, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with an 8.5% share.

In 2021, man-made filament yarn imports into Greece declined significantly to X tons, reducing by -66.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 226% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports dropped notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 411%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (X tons), India (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of man-made filament yarn imports to Greece, with a combined 83% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Turkey, Bulgaria, Belgium and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 15%.
