Glass Fibre Fabrics Market Size in Guatemala

In 2022, the Guatemalan glass fibre fabrics market decreased by -25.9% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption, however, enjoyed strong growth. Glass fibre fabrics consumption peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of glass fibre fabrics decreased by -44.3% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 2,349% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre fabrics exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 1,047%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Honduras (X tons) and El Salvador (X tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre fabrics exports from Guatemala.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Honduras (with a CAGR of +56.7%).

In value terms, Honduras ($X) and El Salvador ($X) constituted the largest markets for glass fibre fabrics exported from Guatemala worldwide.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Honduras, with a CAGR of +53.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average glass fibre fabrics export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 23% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 279% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to El Salvador totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to El Salvador (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Guatemala

In 2022, overseas purchases of glass fibre fabrics decreased by -29.3% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 64%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest glass fibre fabrics supplier to Guatemala, accounting for a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre fabrics imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Mexico (X tons), with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +25.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+10.2% per year) and Mexico (+6.9% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X), Mexico ($X) and China ($X) were the largest glass fibre fabrics suppliers to Guatemala, together accounting for 86% of total imports. Costa Rica lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 6.8%.

Costa Rica, with a CAGR of +28.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average glass fibre fabrics import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
