El Salvador (X tons), Honduras (X tons) and Nicaragua (X tons) were the main destinations of metal office furniture exports from Guatemala, together comprising 80% of total exports. Belize, Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Guatemala

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of metal office furniture, when their volume decreased by -12.7% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +34.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 44% against the previous year.
