Nicaragua, Colombia, El Salvador, Chile, Panama, Belize, the Dominican Republic and Honduras lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

From 2012 to 2016, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +443.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for other chemical products exported from Guatemala were Ecuador ($X), Mexico ($X) and El Salvador ($X), together accounting for 51% of total exports. Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Belize and the Dominican Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.

The average other chemical products export price stood at $X per ton in 2016, falling by -18% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 10%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2016, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the fifth consecutive year, Guatemala recorded growth in purchases abroad of other chemical products, which increased by 4.6% to X tons in 2016. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2016: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.2% over the last four-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2016 figures, imports increased by +82.5% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2016 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, other chemical products imports expanded sharply to $X in 2016. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% from 2012 to 2016; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2016 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2016, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other chemical products to Guatemala, accounting for a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, other chemical products imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), twofold. Nicaragua, with a CAGR of +169.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average other chemical products import price stood at $X per ton in 2016, growing by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
