In general, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports from Guatemala, with a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Honduras (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States amounted to -2.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (-0.2% per year) and Honduras (+116.9% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries exports from Guatemala, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +5.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+3.9% per year) and Spain (+24.6% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Honduras ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Guatemala
In 2022, supplies from abroad of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries increased by 77% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 324%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 527%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Mexico (X tons) constituted the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry supplier to Guatemala, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), fourfold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Mexico totaled +105.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+122.0% per year) and the United States (+2.8% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constituted the largest supplier of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries to Guatemala, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Mexico totaled +157.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+120.7% per year) and the United States (+9.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($X per ton), while the price for Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
