The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China (X units) was the main destination for glass bottle, jar and container exports from Hong Kong SAR, accounting for a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Philippines (X units), with a 6.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to China totaled -16.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-15.5% per year) and the Philippines (+2.5% per year).

These countries were followed by Japan, the Philippines, the UK, Macao SAR, Poland, Canada, Australia, Thailand and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 23%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Canada, with a CAGR of +238.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 4.2% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) was the main supplier of glass bottle, jar and container to Hong Kong SAR, with a 93% share of total imports.
