Overall, exports showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 84%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ABS copolymers exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Malaysia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of ABS copolymers exports from Hungary, together comprising 59% of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, ABS copolymers imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

South Korea (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of ABS copolymers imports to Hungary, with a combined 60% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +52.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn.
