The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 159% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for antisera exports from Hungary, with a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, antisera exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), fourfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +30.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+57.2% per year) and France (+93.2% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for antisera exported from Hungary worldwide, together comprising 39% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the United States, with a CAGR of +214.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average antisera export price stood at $X per kg in 2021, reducing by -13.4% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, antisera export price decreased by -24.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 48%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per kg. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Hungary

In 2021, the amount of antisera and other blood fractions imported into Hungary shrank notably to X tons, waning by -27.3% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, antisera imports reduced markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 75%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), the United States (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of antisera imports to Hungary, with a combined 58% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +132.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), South Korea ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest antisera suppliers to Hungary, together comprising 73% of total imports. The United States, Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, France, Austria, the UK and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

Among the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +134.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average antisera import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+69.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
