Circuit Breaker Market Size in Hungary

The Hungarian circuit breaker market shrank sharply to $X in 2022, which is down by -21.8% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a resilient increase. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, circuit breaker production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the amount of automatic circuit breakers exported from Hungary reduced to X units, with a decrease of -8.4% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 21%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, circuit breaker exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 29%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

France (X units), Poland (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main destinations of circuit breaker exports from Hungary, with a combined 40% share of total exports. Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Greece and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +193.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Austria ($X), France ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for circuit breaker exported from Hungary worldwide, together accounting for 39% of total exports. Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany, Latvia, Spain, Greece and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Among the main countries of destination, Latvia, with a CAGR of +166.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average circuit breaker export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -7.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of automatic circuit breakers, when their volume decreased by -28.7% to X units. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 81% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, circuit breaker imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In 2022, France (X units) constituted the largest circuit breaker supplier to Hungary, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, circuit breaker imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bulgaria (X units), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X units), with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from France totaled +13.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bulgaria (+9.5% per year) and Germany (+20.5% per year).

In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of automatic circuit breakers to Hungary, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from France totaled +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+11.7% per year) and Bulgaria (+6.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average circuit breaker import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 33%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
