In value terms, crispbread exports totaled $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 309% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Italy (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of crispbread exports from Hungary, together accounting for 68% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +480.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Slovakia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest markets for crispbread exported from Hungary worldwide, together comprising 68% of total exports.

The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +441.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -14.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crispbread imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread to Hungary, with a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, crispbread imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with a 7.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany stood at +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+8.7% per year) and Poland (+11.6% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread to Hungary, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany stood at +8.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+7.4% per year) and Poland (+18.6% per year).

In 2021, the average crispbread import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 19%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
