In 2022, the amount of crude palm oil imported into Hungary soared to X tons, surging by 1,304% against the year before. In general, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 24,282% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, crude palm oil imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 14,067% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude palm oil imports to Hungary, together comprising 90% of total imports. Croatia and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.6%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Croatia (with a CAGR of +75.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
