The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 1,380%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fireclay exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 866%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of fireclay exports from Hungary, with a combined 82% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +558.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for fireclay exports from Hungary, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Czech Republic totaled +2.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (-24.2% per year) and Germany (+6.2% per year).

In 2021, the average fireclay export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -86.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 801%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Fireclay imports into Hungary reduced remarkably to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -25.7% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, fireclay imports reduced to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 24%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Slovakia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of fireclay to Hungary, with a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, fireclay imports from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold.
