The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 307% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen whole turkey imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 398%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Austria (X tons) was the main frozen whole turkey supplier to Hungary, with a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen whole turkey imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), more than tenfold.
