Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, hydrogen chloride exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 58%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, posted notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, hydrogen chloride imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Austria (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main suppliers of hydrogen chloride imports to Hungary, together comprising 84% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Romania and Poland, which together accounted for a further 15%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +214.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
