The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 53%. In value terms, hydrogen chloride exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 58%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main destinations of hydrogen chloride exports from Hungary, together accounting for 56% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Hungary
In 2021, supplies from abroad of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid) decreased by -11.1% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hydrogen chloride imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Austria (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main suppliers of hydrogen chloride imports to Hungary, together comprising 84% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Romania and Poland, which together accounted for a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +214.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the largest hydrogen chloride suppliers to Hungary, together comprising 70% of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Romania and Poland, which together accounted for a further 14%.
