In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Hungarian lead market, when its value increased by 137% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Lead consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lead exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 359%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Romania (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of lead exports from Hungary, with a combined 77% share of total exports. Serbia, the United States, Germany and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +259.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for lead exported from Hungary were the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Romania ($X), together accounting for 80% of total exports.
The United States, with a CAGR of +215.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lead export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -11.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 305% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of lead, when their volume increased by 101% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, lead imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a mild shrinkage. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Austria (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lead to Hungary, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, lead imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Slovakia (X tons), with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Austria stood at +3.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+9.8% per year) and Slovakia (+103.4% per year).
In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lead to Hungary, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Slovakia, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Austria amounted to +6.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+10.9% per year) and Slovakia (+110.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average lead import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 4.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
