The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for camel and other animal meat exports from Hungary, accounting for a 47% share of total exports. Moreover, camel and other animal meat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tons), threefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled -1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+17.0% per year) and Italy (+8.5% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for meat of camels and other animals exports from Hungary, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to -2.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+9.7% per year) and Slovenia (+12.5% per year).

In 2022, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 13%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Hungary
Camel and other animal meat imports into Hungary skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, growing by 19% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 137%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 161% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Denmark (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of camel and other animal meat imports to Hungary, with a combined 74% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +58.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest camel and other animal meat suppliers to Hungary were Denmark ($X), Belgium ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 71% share of total imports. Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
Spain, with a CAGR of +43.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
