The exports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-cellular polystyrene film exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 213% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of non-cellular polystyrene film exports from Hungary, together comprising 74% of total exports. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 24%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, non-cellular polystyrene film imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
