After two years of growth, the Hungarian non-electrical lamp market decreased by -10% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 243%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Romania (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Croatia (X units) were the main destinations of non-electrical lamp exports from Hungary, with a combined 69% share of total exports. Serbia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the United States, Italy, Poland, Germany, Slovenia and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +205.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Romania ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Croatia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-electrical lamp exported from Hungary worldwide, with a combined 69% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Serbia, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United States, Slovenia, Poland and France, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Italy, with a CAGR of +157.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-electrical lamp export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -20.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 13%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Hungary
Non-electrical lamp imports into Hungary surged to X units in 2021, increasing by 47% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports rose notably to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +38.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Poland (X units) and Slovakia (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electrical lamp imports to Hungary, together accounting for 75% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +32.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-electrical lamp suppliers to Hungary were China ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 78% share of total imports. Slovakia, Austria, the Netherlands and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +28.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-electrical lamp import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -26.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (-1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
