Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2016: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last four years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2016 figures, exports decreased by -26.0% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Switzerland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of other chemical products exports from Hungary, together accounting for 54% of total exports. The UK, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2016, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +197.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2012 to 2016; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, other chemical products imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2016. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2016; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 9.1%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2016, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other chemical products to Hungary, accounting for a 33% share of total imports.
