In 2021, shipments abroad of other cyclic hydrocarbons was finally on the rise to reach X kg for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a dramatic decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 580%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a sharp decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 802% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X kg) was the main destination for cyclic hydrocarbons exports from Hungary, accounting for a approx. 100% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Netherlands stood at -2.5%.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Netherlands was relatively modest.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average cyclic hydrocarbons export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -52.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 93% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.

Imports into Hungary
For the third consecutive year, Hungary recorded decline in supplies from abroad of other cyclic hydrocarbons, which decreased by -38% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 197%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest cyclic hydrocarbons supplier to Hungary, with a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, cyclic hydrocarbons imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Slovakia (X tons), with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany amounted to +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+53.3% per year) and Slovakia (+154.9% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cyclic hydrocarbons to Hungary, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany totaled -7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+200.4% per year) and Belgium (+64.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average cyclic hydrocarbons import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
