Overall, total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Austria (X square meters), Romania (X square meters) and Serbia (X square meters) were the main destinations of photographic film exports from Hungary, together comprising 67% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+20.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Hungary
In 2021, overseas purchases of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed increased by 41% to X square meters, rising for the fourth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, photographic film imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -21.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X square meters), the Netherlands (X square meters) and Belgium (X square meters) were the main suppliers of photographic film imports to Hungary, together comprising 76% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +36.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest photographic film suppliers to Hungary, together accounting for 66% of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +33.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per square meter), while the price for China ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
