After two years of growth, overseas shipments of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms decreased by -23.6% to X tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

The Czech Republic (X tons) was the main destination for room deodorants exports from Hungary, accounting for a 24% share of total exports. Moreover, room deodorants exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), threefold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9% share.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms decreased by -14.2% to X tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.7% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, room deodorants imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

The UK (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of room deodorants imports to Hungary, with a combined 72% share of total imports. Turkey, China, the Czech Republic and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
