The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 324%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, semiconductor device exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 425% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Ukraine (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and the UK (X units) were the main destinations of semiconductor device exports from Hungary, with a combined 89% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +108.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for semiconductor devices exports from Hungary, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 6.9% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 6.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Ukraine totaled +51.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+64.0% per year) and the Czech Republic (+92.3% per year).

In 2021, the average semiconductor device export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -18.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 234%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Hungary
In 2021, approx. X units of semiconductor devices were imported into Hungary; picking up by 71% against 2020. Overall, imports posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 145%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, semiconductor device imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest semiconductor device supplier to Hungary, with a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, semiconductor device imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X units), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at +17.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-3.9% per year) and China (+35.7% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of semiconductor devices to Hungary, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-8.3% per year) and China (+33.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average semiconductor device import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -36.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 48%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
