The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Germany (X units) was the main destination for semiconductor thyristor exports from Hungary, accounting for a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, semiconductor thyristor exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Singapore (X units), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +12.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+153.3% per year) and Ukraine (+67.4% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs exports from Hungary, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +3.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+172.7% per year) and Ukraine (+84.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average semiconductor thyristor export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Hungary
In 2022, overseas purchases of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs decreased by -15.8% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor imports expanded to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X units) constituted the largest supplier of semiconductor thyristor to Hungary, accounting for a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, semiconductor thyristor imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), more than tenfold. The Netherlands (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+39.2% per year) and the Netherlands (-12.0% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs to Hungary, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 2.2% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 1.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at -2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+39.9% per year) and France (+64.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average semiconductor thyristor import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 24% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 77%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
