After two years of decline, the Indian antimony ore and concentrate market increased by 16% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Exports from India
In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of antimony ores and concentrates, when their volume decreased by -34.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 701%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, antimony ore and concentrate exports contracted slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 1,060% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Japan (X tons) was the main destination for antimony ore and concentrate exports from India, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, antimony ore and concentrate exports to Japan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Japan totaled +51.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+15.4% per year) and the United States (-7.5% per year).
In value terms, South Korea ($X) remains the key foreign market for antimony ores and concentrates exports from India, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to South Korea amounted to +23.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+25.9% per year) and the United States (+4.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average antimony ore and concentrate export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+27.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Antimony Ores and Concentrates
Imports into India
In 2021, antimony ore and concentrate imports into India contracted to X tons, with a decrease of -11.2% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, antimony ore and concentrate imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Tajikistan (X tons), China (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main suppliers of antimony ore and concentrate imports to India, with a combined 72% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +37.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest antimony ore and concentrate suppliers to India were Tajikistan ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 73% share of total imports. Australia, Canada, South Africa and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Australia, with a CAGR of +31.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average antimony ore and concentrate import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 46% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
