Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 191%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, butter and dairy spreads imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 135%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of butter and dairy spreads to India, with a 49% share of total imports.
