Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cashew nut imports rose to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Benin (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) were the main suppliers of cashew nut imports to India, with a combined 53% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania, Guinea, Senegal, Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Indonesia and Mozambique, which together accounted for a further 44%.

Among the main suppliers, Togo, with a CAGR of +29.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average cashew nut import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, cashew nut import price decreased by -37.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 27%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
