Other Cereals Market Size in India

The Indian other cereals market rose notably to $X in 2021, increasing by 8.2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, other cereals production contracted slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. In terms of the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +117.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average other cereals export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 39%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tunisia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into India

Other cereals imports into India skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, surging by 16% on the previous year. Overall, imports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 285% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, other cereals imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 455% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to India, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 9.4% share.

Germany, with a CAGR of +326.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average other cereals import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -50.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 585% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
