Other Cereals Market Size in India
The Indian other cereals market rose notably to $X in 2021, increasing by 8.2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.
Other Cereals Production in India
In value terms, other cereals production contracted slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Other cereals production peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Exports from India
In 2021, approx. X tons of other cerealses were exported from India; which is down by -8% compared with 2020. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 796%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, other cereals exports declined slightly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 438% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Japan (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of other cereals exports from India, with a combined 56% share of total exports. The Netherlands, New Zealand, Italy, the UK, Taiwan (Chinese), Canada, France, Poland and Tunisia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +106.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for other cereals exported from India worldwide, with a combined 55% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Canada, Poland, Italy, the UK, New Zealand, Taiwan (Chinese), France and Tunisia, which together accounted for a further 26%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +117.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 39%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tunisia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Other Cereals Imports
Imports into India
Other cereals imports into India skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, surging by 16% on the previous year. Overall, imports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 285% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, other cereals imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 455% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to India, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 9.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands totaled +500.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+391.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+64.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest other cereals suppliers to India were the United Arab Emirates ($X), the United States ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Germany and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
Germany, with a CAGR of +326.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -50.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 585% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
