The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, chlorides exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +100.8% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main destinations of chlorides exports from India, with a combined 34% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Vietnam, the United States, Kuwait, Qatar, Germany, Oman, Thailand, Belgium, Sri Lanka and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +112.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) were the largest markets for chlorides exported from India worldwide, together accounting for 45% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Oman, Singapore, Qatar and Kuwait lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +83.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average chlorides export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 27% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into India
Chlorides imports into India rose rapidly to X tons in 2021, growing by 5.4% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, chlorides imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Jordan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of chlorides to India, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, chlorides imports from Jordan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Lithuania (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (X tons), with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Jordan totaled +33.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (+574.5% per year) and China (-1.0% per year).
In value terms, Jordan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride) to India, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Jordan stood at +27.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-3.2% per year) and France (+1.7% per year).

In 2021, the average chlorides import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
