Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crude palm oil imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 68%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Indonesia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude palm oil imports to India, with a combined 90% share of total imports. Papua New Guinea and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.9%.
