Ether Market Size in India

The Indian ether market dropped modestly to $X in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the total consumption indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -5.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ether exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 52%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Singapore (X tons), Oman (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of ether exports from India, together comprising 66% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +56.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for ether exported from India were Singapore ($X), Oman ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 42% share of total exports.

Oman, with a CAGR of +50.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average ether export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas purchases of ethers increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +25.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ether imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Saudi Arabia (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of ether imports to India, with a combined 45% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +84.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ethers to India, comprising 30% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+4.6% per year) and the United States (+1.5% per year).

In 2022, the average ether import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
