The Indian market for meat of camels and other animals reached $X in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In 2022, overseas shipments of meat of camels and other animals decreased by -8.1% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 6,973% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 2,971%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Qatar (X tons) was the main destination for camel and other animal meat exports from India, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, camel and other animal meat exports to Qatar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malawi (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Qatar amounted to +105.5%.
In value terms, Qatar ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for meat of camels and other animals exports from India, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malawi ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Qatar stood at +123.3%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 183% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malawi ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malawi (+32.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into India
In 2022, approx. X tons of meat of camels and other animals were imported into India; jumping by 49% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 126%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 207% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of camel and other animal meat to India, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, camel and other animal meat imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X kg), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands stood at +32.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-29.6% per year) and France (-17.4% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of meat of camels and other animals to India, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 5.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the Netherlands stood at +38.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-36.9% per year) and France (-37.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for meat of camels and other animals stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -34.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 73%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+89.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
