The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 82%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Canada (X tons), Nepal (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of non-alloy aluminium bar exports from India, together accounting for 56% of total exports. The United States, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Bhutan, Australia, the UK, Myanmar and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Colombia (with a CAGR of +67.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Canada ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports from India, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nepal ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada stood at +14.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nepal (-6.1% per year) and the United States (-6.6% per year).

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles, when their volume increased by 7.8% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 17%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest non-alloy aluminium bar supplier to India, with a 84% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled -1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+155.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-13.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles to India, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 5.9% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+150.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-12.4% per year).

As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
